Measuring Aspirations and Participation:
New Hampshire’s annual survey of graduating high school seniors

Modeled after a survey that has been successfully administered in Vermont for over 25 years, this instrument captures information from graduating seniors regarding their postsecondary education and career plans, and their perception of the education they received in high school.

In collaboration with the New Hampshire Department of Education and our higher education partners, the New Hampshire Higher Education Assistance Foundation (NHHEAF) has assumed funding and coordination responsibilities for the survey.

The Measuring Aspirations and Participation report may
· Be shared to inform parents, school boards, policy-makers and others about educational trends
· Allow schools and districts to analyze their results against peer high schools around the state
· Be utilized in planning, revising and updating curriculum
· Measure progress in postsecondary continuation rates
· Help understand when and how decisions are made about choosing careers and colleges
· Help understand why students choose not to remain in state
· Assist in-state colleges with appropriate planning for meeting the needs of incoming students
